ACL Tear

A torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is the most common and painful of sports injuries. It's common because almost allsports ACTIVITY(soccer, football, basketball, skiing, etc.) involve cutting, pivoting and extension of the legs during the sport.

  •  At the moment of injury you may hear a popping sound: You may also feel a pop when the ACL tears. It is a very distinct sound and feeling.
  •  24×7 A very sudden and intense onset of pain: Most athletes report feeling a searing, burning, or intense pain immediately after the popping sound.
  •  Swelling in the affected knee within the first five to six hours: The swelling is brought on by blood and fluids from the tear flowing in and around the injured area.

PCL Tear

The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL)connects the femur to the tibia at the back of the knee. It limits the backward or posterior motion of the tibia (shinbone). Twisting or overextending the knee can cause the PCL to tear, leaving the knee unstable and potentially unable to support a person's full body weight. The PCL is the strongest ligament in the knee, and tears often are associated with traumatic injuries rather than sports injuries. PCL tears can happen when the knee is violently forced backward or when the front of the shin is hit hard, for example when the knee strikes the dashboard during a car accident.

Multiligament Injury

A multi-ligament knee injury involves injury to two or more ligaments of the knee. These injuries are usually high energy in nature - meaning motor vehicle accidents are most common, but we do see these types of injuries in skiing and football injuries at the higher levels. The injury could indicate a knee dislocation that can cause injuries to the nerves and blood vessels requiring specialized care.

A knee with multiple ligaments damaged requires special care. Some of these ligaments can be repaired if they are addressed early enough - within 3 weeks. This is especially crucial for the posterior lateral corner which is often misdiagnosed or neglected with bad results. A multi-ligament kneeMAY require surgeries IN TWO STAGE for repair of certain structures and then reconstruction of other ligaments.

MPFL Reconstruction

Medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction is a surgical procedure indicated in patients with more severe patellar instability. Medial patellofemoral ligament is a band of tissue that extends from the femoral medial epicondyle to the superior aspect of the patella. Medial patellofemoral ligament is the major ligament which stabilizes the patella and helps in preventing patellar subluxation (partial dislocation) or dislocation. This ligament can rupture or get damaged when there is patellar lateral dislocation. Dislocation can be caused by direct blow to the knee, twisting injury to the lower leg, strong muscle contraction, or because of a congenital abnormality such as shallow or malformed joint surfaces.

  •  Location: should be located isometrically
  •  Correct tension: should be appropriate

ACL + PCL Tear

ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) tears are common knee injuries, especially for athletesand sometimes after road raffic accidents. The ACL and PCL are two of four ligaments that stabilize the knee joint, allowing the knee to move forward and backward without moving side to side. The ACL is located in the center of the knee just in front of the PCL, keeping the shin bone (tibia) from moving too far forward, while the PCL keeps it from moving too far backward. The ligaments cross over each other, and along with the MCL and LCL, work to stabilize the knee joint. Injuries to these ligaments are more often sprains than tears, although partial or full tears can occur to either ligament.
